WLUP Radio Station Changes Owners, Will Air Christian Music From Saturday

The WLUP FM 97.9 station is changing hands. The popular host Eric Muller has signed off from the popular morning show called “Mancow Morning Show” aired on the WLUP Radio FM channel. Tuesday was his last assignment.

There was an announcement made that the Christian broadcaster Educational Media Foundation has bought the FM station for a whopping 21.5 million dollars. This was a legendary Rock station earlier and was known as the “Loop”. Now, it has changed the format to adult Contemporary Christian music from Saturday. This FM station will continue to air the rock music, but without the disc jockeys till Saturday.

Marv Nyren, the market manager of the station, was there at the WLUP Rock Station from 2014. The owner of the WLUP FM station was Merlin Media.

The purchase agreement was done last month and it was filed with the Federal Communications Commission on Monday. This new deal will make the WLUP switch channels. It will make a move to the popular with K-Love Christian music format that is heard across 600 stations in the nation.

The rock fans in Chicago feel that they have been undone by the move of WLUP from a rock station to a Christian music station.
